SAP MATERIAL MANAGEMENT / PROCUREMENT (MM)

SAP MM (Materials Management) is the largest and most complex module of Logistics Area. Materials Management covers all tasks within the Supply Chain, including Purchasing which handles procurement of products and services.

SAP MM (Materials Management) is a module of the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) package that is used for Procurement Handling and Inventory Management, it forms the basis for all other modules of SAP Logistics area.

The module has two important master data – material and vendor. Broadly, the various levels that can be defined for a SAP MM implementation are: Client, Company Code, Plant, Storage Location and Purchase Organization.

SAP Materials Management covers all tasks within the supply chain, including consumption-based planning, planning, vendor evaluation and invoice verification. It also includes inventory and warehouse management to manage stock until usage dictates the cycle should begin again and Electronic Just-in-Time delivery is supported.

It is a great way of entering the SAP market as a consultant if you have experience in engineering or science, also if you have some experience procurement.
